The St. Louis Cardinals acquire 33-year old lefty reliever Zach Duke from the Chicago White Sox for 23-year old lefty swinging outfielder Charlie Tilson. Duke pitched in 53 games (0 starts) for the White Sox this year and he was 2-0 with 1 save, a 2.63 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. He gave up 31 hits and 16 walks while whiffing 42 batters in his 37 2/3 innings for the Pale Hose this year. Duke has now pitched in 413 games (169 starts) in his first 12 years in the show and he is 60-83 with 3 saves, a 4.35 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. Tilson came into this season as the Cardinals’ #13 prospect according to Baseball America. Tilson played in 1oo games in AAA-ball for the Cardinals this year and he was 99 of 351 (.282 avg, .753 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 4 homers, 34 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.
