The Cardinals have dealt 32-year old lefty swinging 2B/OF Skip Schumaker to the Dodgers for 23-year old righty swinging 2B/SS Jake Lemmerman. Schumaker played in 107 games for the Cardinals last year and he was 75 of 272 (.276 avg, .707 OPS) with 37 runs scored, 1 homer, 28 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He played in 810 games in his 8 years with the Cardinals and he was 704 of 2,442 (.288 avg, .722 OPS) with 340 runs scored, 23 homers, 211 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. The Cardinals are going to miss Schumaker’s versatility and bench off the bench in 2013. Jake Lemmerman came into last season as the Dodgers’ #27 prospect according to Baseball America. He played in 116 games in AA-ball for the Dodgers last year and he was 87 of 373 (.233 avg, .725 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 7 homers, 46 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. Lemmerman has now played in 306 games in his first three years in the minors and he is 316 of 1,109 (.286 avg, .825 OPS) with 203 runs scored, 29 homers, 158 RBIs and 23 stolen bases.
